Tricyrtis is commonly known as Toad Lily. Gardeners assume it a reference to the flower's beautifully be-speckled petals which resemble a toads patterning. It isn't until transplanting the root system is revealed- not a bulb, not a corm, no rhizomes, but a bulbous toad.
